Description

This stone figurine had been found near Sesklo in the Thessaly region in Greece and date back from the pre pottery neolithic (7th millenium B.C.).
One can clearly see the general linkage with some cycladic idols, for instance those which shows a typical ovoid face with a thin sculpted nose. This small figurine shows common steatopygous features, such as big breasts, belly and buttocks. Its arms seems to bear its belly. Above the latter one can clearly see the pubic triangle.
This kind of idols is very likely to be a missing link towards classic cycladic art.

Condition

Some veins and different colouration of the stone (particularly visible on the right part of its buttocks) Excellent condition, no missing / broken part.
