Description

Bronze molded sickle from Hungary dating back from the late bronze age (800 – 1000 B.C. / Urnfield culture).

This tool has a hole at its base which was used to attach it to a shaft with rivets, and a little tongue which could have been made through the casting process. The inner part is sharp and the outer part is thick. The mid rib which starts at the tongue, begins parralel with both edges and approach progressively the outer edge to join it at 2/3 of its length. The cutting edge shows an extensive use with progressive resharpening.

There is a light crusty patina with earth deposits. One can see minor stabilized cracks on the terminal, with the tip being lightly curved.
