Description
This idole has been found in the Varna’s area and dates back to the 5th millenium B.C.
IT belongs to the Gumelnita – Karanov culture, and shares distinctive traits such as the typical head. Indeed, it has an ogival shape with two pierced holes featuring its ears and two unfinished holes featuring its eyes (just as typical bone figurines from this culture).
This figurine shows two hands bearing her breasts. We can see three different sections of roughly the same length delimited with the neck and waist incision.
The vulva isn’t incised but 3d shaped, which is barely seen. Her hips are large and keep a distinctive trait of steatopygia.
This is the only specimen of this type found allover the place. A true masterpiece, testimony of a high ancient cult!
Mounted on custom stand.
Condition
Beautiful patina. Light erosion on the nose area. Else unique and awesome specimen.
Provenance
From an old Franch private collection Assier (found in the 30’s in the Varna’s area).
