Description

Superb pair of Ostrogoth bronze fibulas dating from the 6th century, period of the great migrations. These are massive and identical, each featuring five petals around the edge of its upper part. The whole fibula incorporates sun signs of different sizes (and not identical hallmarks as is often the case), alternating large and small patterns. The base shows the typical shape, called the dragon’s head. The barbs are missing, however the two copies have a superb green to coppery patina depending on the location.

Very fine work and differentiated from most fibulae of this type.
