Description

Roman bronze knee fibula mainly used by imperial soldier during the 2nd century A.D.

These kind of fibulae shows a semi-circular plate hiding the spring and a low catch plate. Our specimen posess a small terminal button at its back.

Genceva tells that these examples dates back between the mid 2nd century A.D. and the 3rd century A.D.

Original pin and spring (a small break at the end). Catch plate partially broken. Beautiful patina.
