Description

Roman bronze knee fibula mainly used by imperial soldier during the 2nd century A.D.

These kind of fibulae shows a semi-circular plate hiding the spring and a low catch plate. Our specimen don’t have a small terminal button at its back.

Genceva tells that these examples are the oldest form of knee fibulae dating between the end of the 1st century A.D. and the mid 2nd century A.D.

Pin and spring heavily earth encrusted. Beautiful heteregeneous patina.
