Description

Iron Scythian gladius, found in the south part of Ukrainian territory and dating between 400 and 600 B.C.

This type of weapon measures 522 mm long with a thin, light and straight 400 mm blade. The hilt is 22 mm large and ends with two big loops rejoining at its back were we can see two eyes and a mouth. The 63 mm large guard has a typical heart shape, typical of akinakes. There is a central groove equally separating the hilt. The width of the blade at the guard is 36 mm with a thickness of less than 6 mm and features a diamond profile. Some little shocks are presnet on its edges are present but doesn’t change the sharpness and visual appeal. All the weapon has been mechanically treated and has been coated with oil and wax to prevent further corrosion.

It is sold with a custom mount that can be seen on the last picture.

The general aspect is extremely fine since soil acidity on the long run almost always lead iron artefacts to a high degree of corrosion.
