Description
Scythian iron sword dating from the early 5th century B.C. The hilt ends with a 42 mm long and 21 mm large oval bar. The guard is designed with a typical heart shape which is 62 mm large. The hilt and guard together are measuring 113 mm long. The transversal blade section has a diamond shape and is 545 mm long and 37 mm large on its largest part.
The sword has been mechanically treated to remove rust spots leaving lots of small craters that most of unearthed iron artifacts shows. It has also been coated with oil and wax to disable further corrosion process.
Some shocks can be seen on the edges but it is still in a very good state of preservation considering its age and the kind of material.
